I wasn’t planning on driving on the track this time, not least because I’m still running the same tyres which are now starting to look rather worn, and also because I didn’t fancy getting up super-early.

Sorry about the lack of posts and new pics lately.
Back in January I developed a cyst on my eyelid that progressively got worse. In the end it was felt that minor surgery was needed, which was done under local anaesthetic as an out patient at my local hospital.
It was an unpleasant procedure, and they had to cauterise it which was a horrid smell and rather distressing.
I had quite a lot of post-operative swelling, and it took quite a while to heal up. During this time I was unable to wear any eye makeup, so photos were rather out of the question.
I’m all healed up now, so hopefully I can get back to regularly posting pics on Flickr.
In this post, I buy a reproduction of a painting by Gil Elvgren, and trace some of the history behind it. I also have to modify the painting in order to be able to hang it.
No new self portraiture pics right now, I’m afraid. I have a cyst / lump on my eyelid at the moment which means I can’t really wear makeup. It’s affecting my vision too, which is a little worrying.
Eagle-eyed readers may have noticed from my recent Flickr pics that I have a new car, and that I have also published a pic of me wearing a crash helmet in the car.
So, since I haven’t blogged for a while, and since several people have asked me for more information, I thought I should tell you a bit more.
I popped out to a local Antiques & Collectables fair in Hartley Wintney today.
Despite having far too much jewellery, I couldn’t resist this cute pair of silver earrings for £9.
I liked how the inner and outer hearts moved independently of each other.
I also bought yet another ring, despite having far too many already. I just thought it was unusual. In case it’s not totally obvious from the photo, the ring is formed from the word “Love”.
I then had a little wander round the shops, and snapped a nice little selfie in a full length mirror in a shop.
I’m wearing a dress by Atmosphere that I bought ages ago for £5, a jacket by Jane Norman (which you will have seen many times before), and a glass heart necklace that I bought on Friday for £2 in a charity shop (you can see it better in the pic at the top of the post). The bag is by Radley, and the shoes are by Rocket Dog.
I received an absolutely lovely comment on one of my Flickr pics recently:
What a pleasure to see the subtle but striking changes from your first photographs to this one, you have changed into such a pretty woman 👍
Looking back on my photos over the past 10 years (have I really been on Flickr that long?), I have to agree – I have come such a long way since those initial faltering steps on my journey towards being the person that I really am.
I can’t help wondering, though, whether I am reaching my peak. I’m not getting any younger and old age is going to start to catch up with me soon. 🙁
But then I look at the wonderful pics that Janet Rainer posts and it gives me hope that an older woman can still look wonderful. So who knows what the future holds?
